A study from The New Zealand Initiative has revealed many New Zealanders don't understand our democratic system.
One thousand voting-age Kiwis were asked "basic questions to test their knowledge of civics and democracy" and the results showed several gaps in what the public knows. You can find the full report and the questions it asked here.
