The Epidemic Response Committee is hearing from economists and business leaders, following the Government's unveiling of a $50 billion COVID-19 fund in Budget 2020.

The committee will hear from economist Cameron Bagrie, Dr Bryce Wilkinson from the New Zealand Initiative, Iron Duke Partners managing director Phil O'Reilly, and Auckland Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Barnett.

The committee was due to hear from Treasury Secretary Caralee McLeish but she pulled out, committee chair Simom Bridges said in his opening remarks.

The Epidemic Response Committee is a group of 11 MPs, the majority of whom are in Opposition, who meet via videoconference with the purpose of holding the Government to account on its coronavirus response.

National leader Simon Bridges chairs the committee, and is joined by four other National MPs, three Labour MPs, one Green Party MP, one New Zealand First MP, and permanent member David Seymour, leader of the ACT Party.
